Picotte's obituary:

"DR. SUSAN LA FLESCHE PICOTTE, of Walthill, Neb., in a good way at her home on Sep 18, aged forty-nine years.

She was a daughter of Pierre La Flesche, or Iron Get a load of, the last of the totality chiefs of the Omaha clan, and had devoted her animation to the interests of afflict tribe, by whom she was regarded as the leader.
